Susan Moloney
“My name is Susan Moloney. I am a painter from Pennsylvania.
I have a B.F.A. from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where I majored in painting and drawing. I exhibit in local galleries, and have sold to individual collectors in the United States, as well as Ireland and England.
Most recently, I exhibited some work at The Plastic Club Gallery’s “Small Worlds” show, and Highwire Gallery’s “Devotion” show (both in Philadelphia).
My studio is under-going major renovations. I am really excited to get moved back in there and start working! It is going to be a great space, and it is something that I’ve waited a very long time for!
I started my Etsy shop “susarto” in November of 2006, with just some small paintings, until I made a plush doll for my niece. I called it a “weirdo”. People kept asking me to make more and put them in my Etsy shop. I did, and they sort of took off. I’ve made hundreds of them since.
My weirdos were published in Stuffed Magazine’s Winter 2010 issue, and I have also been published in the Plush Team’s book “Get Stuffed” volume one.
Painting is my heart, though.
I don’t just love it. I *have* to do it. It’s a necessity.
In order to keep my new work separate from the plush, I opened another Etsy shop called “SusanMoloney”. My new work is more collage, mixed media, and found object oriented. I will continue to do more of this, but with more painting and drawing included in them.
I also just opened a THIRD Etsy shop called “sanfordsalvage” that will be ready soon. I tend to collect stuff that I don’t really need, and when it starts to take over my space, it will end up in there. There will be listings as soon as my studio is finished.
I have one husband, one son, and one dog.
I Twitter and Etsy and Flickr and Facebook.
Besides that, I can be a bit of a hermit, and I like to work.”
